Teatro ZinZanni announces some late-night lunacy for October
By Bruce Bellingham
It’s called “Cabaret Lunatique,” and it features some tangential acts that will appear at Teatro ZinZanni on late Saturday nights in October. It’s a mélange of saucy burlesque and music in the Teatro ZinZanni tent hosted by the Mexican Elvis known as El Vez. The irreverently hip show will feature a constellation of wild and wacky performers ranging from magicians to mummers, and clowns to contortionists.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, it’s Kitten on the Keys, singer and burlesque performer Suzanne Ramsey … Sam Payne and Domitil Aillot, Chinese pole artists …Mariel a la Mode, solo burlesque performer … Circus Finelli, a four-person female clown troupe presenting slapstick Slavic cabaret … Fleeky Franco, hand-balancer and contortionist … and Scarlett & Axelrod, a daring duet on the aerial hoop. … Let’s face it: The names are entertainment unto themselves.
On Saturday, Oct. 25, it’s Joie de Vivre, cabaret vocalist Dolores Duran-Cefalu with keyboardist Tim Bair … The Nekyia, a troupe of swell showgirls and acrobats … Raining Men, featuring clown and juggler Ajina Slater … Daniela Steiner in “Going to the Sun,” a thrilling spectacle on trapeze … Andrew and Felicity Hunzeker Hesed, physical comedians … and Xiaohong Weng and Jennings McCown, performing hand-to-hand double acrobatics.
Cabaret Lunatique: a 21-and-over show at Teatro ZinZanni, Pier 29; Oct. 11 & 25, 11:30 p.m.–2 a.m., doors open at 11 p.m.; tickets $20 at the door or in advance at the box office, 415-438-2668 or www.zinzanni.org
