Andrea Marcovicci returns to the Rrazz Room
By Bruce Bellingham
Songstress Andrea Marcovicci, the Queen of Cabaret, is a master of the thematic evening. This month she brings movie music to the stage of the Rrazz Room at the Hotel Nikko, from Oct. 14 to Nov. 2, with shows at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m.
Andrea will include great tunes such as “Two for the Road,” “The Days of Wine and Roses,” “Thanks for the Memory,” and “But Not for Me.” She’ll invoke the great legends from the great films – Judy Garland … Fred Astaire … Bob Hope … Audrey Hepburn.
Andrea has performed in San Francisco for over two decades, and was a favorite of the late, great Plush Room. Earlier this year she played Coco Chanel in Coco with 42nd Street Moon. Her devotion to the Great American Songbook is legendary. In New York, well, she has attained a near-beatified status. By the way, she once played Saint Joan here in San Francisco at the A.C.T.
Marcovicci Sings the Movies II: The Rrazz Room, Hotel Nikko, 220 Mason Street (at O’Farrell); Oct. 14–Nov. 2, Mon–Sat 8 p.m., Sundays 5 p.m.; tickets $45–$50 at 866-468-3399 or www.therrazzroom.com
