Another sultry summer sashays into Teatro ZinZanni by the bay
By Bruce Bellingham

MelanieSummers are not often all that sultry in San Francisco, but the livin’ is easy at Pier 29’s Teatro ZinZanni. The tented theater on the waterfront is celebrating its tenth season with a rotation of splashy shows and scintillating singers.

The Sultry Summer Magic Show features British wonderment Melanie Stace, who will star from May 7–June 7. Edna Wright and the Honey Cone, an R&B act from the 1970s, take center stage from June 10–28. The inimitable Melba Moore, both a Tony and Grammy winner, makes her ZinZanni debut from July 1–19.

Sally Kellerman returns to San Francisco, and takes the lead role at ZinZanni from July 22–Aug. 9. The great Darlene Love, who comes from the 1960s’ girl group, The Blossoms & The Crystals (you may recall “He’s A Rebel,” “Da Doo Ron Ron,” and “He’s Sure The Boy I’m Gonna Marry”). Darlene is a product of Phil Spector’s “wall of sound” music production technique, but I don’t imagine she’d like to talk about Spector too much these days. She appears at the ZinZanni from Aug. 12–30.

The shows feature Ukrainian illusionist Yevgeniy Voronin, Bay Area juggler, and funnyman Michael Davis. This also marks the U.S. debut of The Randols, a high-speed rollerblade acrobatic act.
This I’ve got to see.

The five-course dinners at ZinZanni are supervised by Taste Catering.
